Description

Physical Properties: Antimicrobial, expectorant, mucolytic, anti-inflammatory, grounding. Excellent in steam inhalations for opening the lungs and sinuses; can be diluted in a carrier for massage to soothe aching muscles or used in diffusers for emotional support.
Energetic Properties: To be defined (Cathy is currently working with this oil).
Smell: Douglas Fir is incredibly fresh and foresty—vivid, clean, and uplifting. There’s a distinct citrusy top note (similar to sweet grapefruit or orange peel), layered with crisp green needles, a faint touch of resin and slight camphorous aspect..
Perfumery Note: Top to middle note.
Main Chemical Constituents: β-pinene, α-pinene, sabinene, terpinolene, δ-3-carene, limonene, bornyl acetate (1)
Adulteration and quality: On the international market, Douglas fir has know to be adulterated with synthetic bornyl acetate or limonene to boost olfactory appeal. The substitution with cheaper oils such as Siberian fir have also been recorded along with addition of turpentine. We can guarantee that this aromatic oil being exclusively offered and produced by Forgotten Plants, our own distillery, it has not been adulterated (Jah Skipper, 2024).
