Description

Physical Properties: Traditionally used as a diuretic and anti-inflammatory herb, goldenrod supports urinary tract health, eases muscle and joint aches, and the essential oil may provide antimicrobial and circulation-stimulating effects when diluted for topical use (Baser & Buchbauer 2015; Radusiene et al. 2004).
Energetic Properties: Traditionally considered uplifting and grounding, supporting resilience and flow in both physical and emotional states (Worwood 2016).
Smell: Green, hay like at first, with a creamy soft smell that is reminiscent of other Asteraceae. It dries out with a slight campherous smell (Jah, 2025)
Perfumery Note: Middle note.
Main Chemical Constituents: Typically rich in monoterpenes and sesquiterpenes, including α-pinene, germacrene D, and limonene, though chemotypes vary due to complex taxonomy within the Solidago canadensis complex (Radusiene et al. 2004).
Adulteration and quality: Market confusion arises from the taxonomic complexity of Solidago gigantea and its overlap with S. canadensis, leading to inconsistent species attribution in essential oil trade and labeling (Flamini et al. 2007). This distillation was done by use on our own land and are confident of the purity of this oil.
