Description
This resin mix is sustainably harvested in the high desert mountains. Every piece is hand-picked by Cathy. It is unfiltered, unheated, untreated, natural conifer resin and it smells delightful. It is a mixture of Pinon pine (Pinus edulis) resin and White Fir (Abies concolor) resin.
How to use:
Incense – add straight from the tin onto a hot charcoal disc.
Tincture as a base for perfume blending:
- Place the resin in a ceramic or glass container and cover with perfumer’s alcohol.
- Leave to macerate for at least 2 weeks.
- Filter
- Add 2 parts perfumer’s alcohol to one part filtered tincture – this is, so when used as a perfume base, it isn’t sticky.
- Bottle and use as is or add other aromas to the blend.
Infused Oil – once you have made the oil, you can use to make salves and balms:
- Put the resin in a small glass bowl in a saucepan with a small amount of water at the bottom or if you have it use a double boiler. The water needs to go at least halfway up the bowl, but shouldn’t overflow into the bowl once it starts to boil. Cover the resin with carrier oil of your choice.
- Let it simmer slowly until the resin has combined as much as possible with the oil.
- Filter the oil.
- Put it in a small glass jar and use in salve making.
- To get resin off hands, etc. use oil not soap.
