Description
Energetic uses: Calming, supportive, nurturing, cleansing.
Smell: The aroma of Pinus edulis essential oil is fresh, coniferous, and woody, with crisp resinous undertones. It also has unique fruity and sweet back notes that distinguish it from other pine oils [1]. The character of this oil changed radically after a “sun distillation” of the oil a few days after distillation. As a distiller, it was fascinating to see the fresh and green smelling oil become an even more gorgeous product with undertones of butter and nuts coming out. One of our favorite oils we distilled this year.
Perfumery Note: top note [1].
Main Chemical Constituents: α-pinene, β-pinene [1].
Adulteration and quality: This aromatic oil being exclusively offered and produced by small scale craft distillation in the USA, the relative risk of voluntary adulteration compared to globally traded oils is significantly reduced.
Distiller’s Notes: The harvest was a lovely experience surrounded by an overabundance of resin-dripping cones. The unopened cone gives an embryonic, concentrated expression of the heart of Pinon pine. Because of the heavy resin content, we may not distill this again for a while, until we get a dedicated still.
