Description
Energetic Properties: Helps concentration and reduces mental tiredness while bringing a sense of fresh energy and dynamism to the organism. We love the way this oil revitalizes the spirit. It’s crisp, clean, honest and authentic, untouched signature is a true gift that regenerates us on a profound level. In the same way as the swathes of mint that we harvested to make this oil freshen and bring hope and a sparkle to the high desert landscape, they bring this same aliveness to our being. Balancing and uplifting – a great ally to keep in one’s pocket to smell when feeling anxious at any time of the day or night and as a support for light depressive states.
Physical uses: Very effective for soothing digestive issues such as nausea, bloating, gas and intestinal spasms. Smell from the bottle or add 3-4 drops to a small amount of carrier oil and massage onto the digestive area.
Smell: The oil is characterized by a fresh, sweet, minty scent with fruity and slightly herbaceous undertones. It is softer and less intense compared to peppermint [1]. We have found this batch to be quite unique in its olfactive quality compared to other commercially available spearmint. To me, it is the single oil that has been the closest at capturing the smell and feel of the fresh plant it was distilled from! Definitely worth smelling (Jah Skipper, 2024)
Perfumery Note: Top Note
Safety: Avoid applying to skin. (“Essential Oil Safety”, Robert Tisserand & Rodney Young, Churchill Livingstone, 2nd ed., 2013)
Main Chemical Constituents: carvone, limonene, 1,8-cineole [1].
Adulteration and quality: Having tested and reviewed hundreds of mint essential oils from the global market (M.piperita, M.arvense and M.spicata), I encountered a widespread adulteration of these oils. Unintentional contamination with plastics (phthalates) was unfortunately quite common as well as intentional spiking of these oils with fraction of cheaper mints or even synthetics to increase olfactive “quality” was also an issue (Jah Skipper, 2024).
Distiller’s Note: Most mints essential oils on the market are industrially grown in places such as India. Our wild-harvested spearmint essential oil from the USA is extremely rare. “Unfindable!”
