From Seed to Essence
Florent is a dedicated herbalist-distiller based in Auvergne, France. At Terre d’Alchimie, he cultivates and wild-harvests aromatic plants, distilling them on-site using a custom-built 600L still designed for precision, low-pressure extraction.
His work is guided by the Syndicat SIMPLES, one of France’s most respected charters for small-scale herbal producers. This framework ensures that every step—from growing and gathering to distillation and bottling—meets high standards for ecological responsibility, purity, and craftsmanship.
Florent trained under Christian Nugier, a revered French distiller, and carries forward this lineage with quiet integrity and deep care for the plants and the land that support them.
Florent’s Still – Purpose-Built
Florent works with a custom-designed, 600-liter stainless steel still, crafted by his mentor to support precise, low-pressure distillation. It’s jacketed for even, gentle heating and fitted with a series of custom valves that let him finely tune steam, temperature, and flow throughout each batch.
Though made of modern materials, the still is built with traditional values in mind—slowness, care, and respect for the plant. Every detail of the design serves the same goal: to preserve the subtle, living qualities of the plants he harvests. The result is essential oils and hydrosols that are not only pure, but full of nuance, depth, and soul.

We’ve known Florent for over a decade—first as one of our herbal and botany students, and now as one of our most trusted distillers and dear friends. His oils are among the most cherished in our collection, and he’s been part of our journey from the very beginning.
Florent’s dedication and mastery have deeply inspired us. In fact, his path was one of the sparks that led us to begin our own distillations. Over the years, he’s shared technical advice and insight. What began as mentorship has grown into a long-standing collaboration.
